In September 2024, the jubilee VU SA integration festival „Ad Astra“ took place, offering students a wide program. The event reached a record number of 3000 participants and became one of the biggest student engagement highlights at the beginning of the academic year.
Vilnius University Student Representation celebrated its 35th anniversary this year, inviting birthday guests to remember the impressive history of the organization, make predictions about the future of VU SR, and celebrate the work done by members.
VU SA conducted an academic ethics survey in December 2024 - January 2025, aiming to identify forms and extent of academic dishonesty at Vilnius University.
At the beginning of the new year 2025, we invited the community to participate in an open VU SA Parliament meeting and get acquainted with the activity program of the only candidate - prof. dr. Rimvydas Petrauskas - and ask students questions.
In February, a visit to Poland took place, and in April - a remote meeting with the Ukrainian student representation, during which student-related issues were discussed and cooperation ties were established.
Throughout the year, we organized member training to improve their competencies and skills.
One of the most important events of the year was the creation and approval of the new VU SA Strategic Plan. The plan was prepared taking into account the long-term strategy of the organization and includes three main directions: quality studies and adapted environment, strong organization and harmonious university community.
During the term, VU SA joined a working group established by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport, where discussions were held on foreign students' integration models and the role of institutions in implementing them.
I especially appreciate your ability to unite student voices, clarify the most relevant needs, and actively engage in a dialogue that leads to real changes. This is a sign of responsibility, maturity, and leadership.
I especially appreciate that the Student Representation does not limit itself to formal representation – you consistently care about the quality of studies, defend students' rights, strengthen the community, create meaningful initiatives, and nurture academic values. Thanks to you, the ideas of interdisciplinarity, inclusion, responsibility, and citizenship flourish.
Your ability to constructively represent student interests at all levels - from study quality to higher education policy - is an important part of the strength of the University community.
Your enthusiasm and active involvement, critical thinking and goodwill support are invaluable contributions that help us grow, improve and create an environment where it is good to learn and be.
We are grateful for the meaningful partnership and are pleased to continue joint activities that contribute to a stronger student voice in academic ethics.
We sincerely appreciate your dedication, new ideas, and active involvement in creating a higher education system that meets student needs. Your voice is important - and it makes a difference.
Thank you for sharing your ideas and perspectives on how you and your student representation create systemic changes at your university and in your country.
